About Ryan
I’m an innovative product and operations leader with over 8 years of experience in driving product design and DTC eComm strategy before transitioning into the event industry.

As the Director of Operations and Growth of Rumi Lane, I helped bootstrap the business from ground-up with efforts that included door to door retail store visits and networking events to secure an initial client roster.  I developed and executed an SEO-optimized website content strategy resulting in 60+ booked 2024 events with brands such as ByGeorge, Sezane, EA, MLB All Star Game, Red Bull Racing, Adidas, VEVO, Peach House, Barrys, Kizik and Krewe, just to name a few. As our online presence grew, I launched a monthly newsletter to stay engaged with the event planning community.

I'm look forward to bring my experience and ideas to curate and enhance Westlake's ClubLife.

Rumi Lane Newsletter

This writing sample comes from Rumi Lane's January Newsletter sent to an email list that includes event planners, retail store managers. List size includes 500-100 qualified leads

This Month’s Stitch

While everyone's rushing to make grand 2025 plans, we're embracing the calmness to January’s event calendar. Like the careful precision of each embroidered stitch, we believe the best events come from thoughtful planning and intentional details. Speaking of which, our calendar is already filling with some incredibly creative spring concepts, spring weddings, music festivals and the SXSW craziness.

Your monthly dose of event inspiration & personalization trends

Trending in Events

  • The "quiet luxury" wave is making personalization more subtle yet meaningful – think monochromatic color scheme and Texas-inspired designs.
  • Interactive stations are becoming social media moments and keepsakes (we're here for this dual-purpose trend).
  • Sustainability in gifting is no longer optional – planners are seeking items guests will actually keep and use.

Behind The Thread

December brought us some magical moments:

  • A winter baby shower with personalized pouches perfect for a mom on the go (and a surprise pigs...not provided by Rumi Lane)
  • A tech company's holiday party where we took simple company merch and turned them into a canvas.
  • A retail store turned into Santa’s workshop featuring Santa, a gift wrapping station and a personalized embroidery gift station.

Quick Tip

For large venues that feature a maze from the loading zone to the actual event room, think about those vendors with lots of equipment or accessories. Send detailed instructions and a map that can be passed along to all of the employees.  Bonus points if the load in brief includes photos of the doors and hallways that vendors can easily follow through the maze.

Vendor Spotlight

Meet The Farmer and I

Meet the floral genius behind some beautiful farmer’s market style bouquets. Carrington will bring a floral pop-up display to your event for some good wholesome fun and let your guests walk away with stunning bouquets.  We recently collaborated with Carrington during the private launch of Sezane’s Austin location. While guests waited for there personalized Sweaters, they made bouquets with specialty cut flowers from Winkelmann Flowers in East Texas.

Brand Crush:

Recess Pickleball

We're obsessed with how Recess is redefining how sports equipment can be chic and made for recreational fun players. Their pop-up events blend play, style, and community in a way that feels both luxurious and accessible – exactly what we strive for in our activations. Our team scooped up a paddle during their very first launch and never looked back. Plus, their paddle cases are practically begging to be customized with Rumi Lane’s new icons (hint hint, future collab?).

Garden Shop Newsletter

Written for a freelance client, garden shop trying to create content to promote organic gardening.

If you're serious about growing the juiciest, most flavorful tomatoes in your garden, you need to pay attention to what's happening beneath the surface. Today, I want to share some tips from my tomato growing journey.

Why Tomatoes Love Sweet Peet

Tomatoes are heavy feeders with specific soil needs. Unlike traditional wood mulches, Sweet Peet Mulch works double duty – it's not just a protective layer, but a dynamic soil enhancer that transforms your garden bed into tomato paradise.

The pH Sweet Spot

Let's take a second to talk numbers. One of the trickiest aspects of growing tomatoes is maintaining the right soil pH. Tomatoes prefer slightly acidic soil, typically between 6.0 and 6.8. Here's where Sweet Peet shines: it acts as a natural pH buffer, helping to maintain that perfect sweet spot regardless of your starting soil conditions. No more struggling with lime or sulfur applications!

Water Management Magic

We all know the secret golden rule of tomato growing: (it's okay if you don't...we're here to make sure you do)

Consistent moisture is key to preventing blossom end rot and fruit splitting. It forming a protective barrier that reduces water evaporation and creates channels for water to penetrate deeply to the roots

Quick Tips

  1. Plant your tomatoes as usual
  2. Once the soil has warmed up (usually a few weeks after planting), apply a 2-3 inch layer of Sweet Peet around each plant
  3. Keep the mulch about 2 inches away from the stem to prevent collar rot
  4. As the season progresses, the Sweet Peet will gradually break down, feeding your plants with slow-release nutrients

Here's a pro tip: at the end of your tomato season, don't remove the Sweet Peet. Instead, gently till it into your soil. It will continue to break down over winter, improving soil structure and setting you up for an even better growing season next year.

The Living Soil Connection

You know those beneficial earthworms we love? They go crazy for Sweet Peet, tunneling through your soil and creating natural aeration channels.

Remember, great tomatoes start from the ground up. Give Sweet Peet a try this season, and I bet you'll never look back!

Happy growing!
